This scholarship was established in memory of Mary Lou Berry, who had a 60 year career as a nurse. She encouraged students in Nueces Canyon ISD to stay in school and always stressed the importance of a college education. Her legacy is to help Nueces Canyon HS students achieve their dreams of a higher education.

Eligibility
Applicant must be a current graduating student from Nueces Canyon High School. Applicant must be pursuing a degree in nursing or medicine. Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Applicant must submit two letters of recommendation from academic instructors. The Mary Lou Berry Memorial Scholarship is a two-year scholarship. Recipient must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA and must submit a copy of an official college transcript of their grades after the first academic year in order to receive funds for the second year.
Selection Criteria
Selection is based on applicants with a minimum ACT score of 15 and financial need. Recipient must be accepted to an accredited college or university, or a medical training program authorized under federal and state law and accredited by a nationally recognized accreditation agency prior to award decision. The scholarship award is null and void if not accepted within one year of award date.
